Jake Kicks Off 2011 Season with a WIN!

Hello Everyone,

The green flag has dropped to kick off my 2011 racing season.  And it could not have started any better.  I won the season opener at the I-10 Lucas Oil Speedway in Blythe Ca. in my Schankerman owned Focus Midget. I don't plan to run a full season in the #88 Focus Midget, but I wasn't going to miss running it at my favorite pavement track.  I could not believe how close I came to setting a new track record out there too.  The crazy thing is I'm running a Dirt/Pavement Combo car.  The Pavement specialty cars should have at least .4 seconds on me.  But my dad and I are really getting the most out of it!

My off season was very busy with preparing my two cars, the #05 Honda Powered Midget and #88 Focus Midget. I also have been working very hard on getting some other racing opportunities put together in cars such as a National USAC Pavement Midget, 410 USAC Sprint Car, and a 360 VRA Sprint Car and now as of last weekend, possibly a Late Model Stock Car.   I will be running a full season with the USAC and VRA series and hope to win a championship, but getting the wins is most important this year.

I have attached a schedule of all the races we hope to run this year.  The races highlighted in Red or Yellow are races my cousin Cody and I plan on running for the Swanson Motorsports Team. The BCRA races will have to be cut back on due to $$ and travel.  My hope is I will be able to use those open dates to run a 410 CRA Sprint Car or a 360 VRA Sprint Car. I am still working out the details to run the USAC National Pavement Midget race at the Lucas Oil Raceway and Indianapolis Speedrome July 28 & 29 in Indianapolis In. Got my fingers crossed on that one!!  And as for this new Late Model Stock Car opportunity, a huge Thank You to Greg Scheidecker for helping me with this opportunity.  I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

I have posted a few videos of my win last weekend on my You Tube page. Just click on the link below to check them out.  The quality is not too good since it was taken from my dads iPhone.

I could not do this with out you guys!!  Thank you Very much.

PS. A special thank you to Gordy & Kyle Edwards for giving me a good right front tire at the Blythe race. Fresh right side tires gave me over 2 tenths of a second on time and defiantly helped me get my first 2011 win. Thanks guys.

Thanks,
Jake

 2010 Racing Season

Well the 2010 racing season has finally come to a close. No doubt this season has been full of hardships for the Swanson Motorsports Team but we we're still able to get a solid 5th place finish in the points standings with a best race finish of 2nd. And I still can't help being very excited for what is to come next year.
We have made great leaps and bounds on the #05 Honda Midget this year improving the power, torque, and durability of the engine thanks to the help of Dan Crower and Crower Performance.  And we still have a lot of great new ideas for it for the 2011 season.
Here is a little glimpse into what’s in store for next year. Obviously we can’t give everyone the full scoop yet because a lot of things are still very much in the works.  But what we can tell you is that we will be running the BCRA series and Ventura's new VRA Midget program as the schedules permit. The only difference with the new VRA Midget Series vs. USAC series is the new right rear tire that will be enforced. It is an extremely hard compound tire. This is to help give more of an even playing field for guys like us who are forced to run the lower horsepower engines since it is a duel over head cam engine. We are limited to a 2.0 Liter 122 cubic inch engine. The BCRA series permits up to a 2.5 liter so we plan on putting more of a focus on that series with our larger engine.
The next thing in the works is a 360 sprint car. The plan is to run one of Cory Kruseman’s sprint cars at least a couple times next year as we transition the Schankerman families #88 Focus Midget into a 360 Sprint Car program. Im looking forward to seeing the Schankerman family back at the races and look forward to driving for them much more again.
Another really cool plan that is in the works is a pavement midget opportunity I have back in Indy. Thanks to Steve Lewis, he is helping me put together an opportunity in run two or three pavement races back in Indianapolis.  I have some money that will need to be raised but I am excited and confident that I will be booking some trips to Indy in 2011.
That’s about all the insight I can give for now, but I'm extremely excited for next season and cannot wait to get it under way.
I've got to thank all of my fantastic sponsors; Goodwine Glass, Orange County Tank Testing, Lucas Oil, K&N Filters, Crower Performance, Oakley, One Day Signs, EgoTactics.net, Zanzabuku Sports Lounge, New York Upper Crust Pizza, and Socal Performance. Without all these great people and companies behind me there is no way we could do this. I am very fortunate to have their support.
